The most commonly preferred proofing file format, used
for review and approval is the PDF (portable document format) from
Adobe. This is an excellent file format and one we support and work
with. However, within the graphics production environment the PDF
is not always the format used by the printer to print from.
You should aim to proof the same file you will print with!
Because artwork files (such as packaging or ad’s), can contain
complex designs, they can sometimes display or look different on
paper or screen when viewed in different file formats. This may
happen, because you may proof the file in the PDF format and then
print from the EPS (encapsulated postscript) or postscript file
formet. Subtle changes can take place when files are converted from
one file format to another.
Viewit
is our virtual proofing solution, which is a fast, secure technology
that streams views of the active proof to a user’s browser
for review and mark-up. The following graphic file formats such
as: PDF, EPS,PS, Tiff, TIFF/IT, DCS 1 & 2, Jpeg and Scitex CT
are supported.
A proofing session starts when the appropriate user designated
by the workflow task, uploads the proof file to the proofing server.
Once uploaded, the proof, is held securely so that no recipient
(unless specifically authorised), can have access to the actual
file. The proofing server, then delivers views of the active proof
to the right users for review & mark-up
It has to be simple. So in the same way that sending your word
document to an inkjet printer is easy, and the result is a print
made from ink pixels on paper, we just deliver the pixels generated
by the artwork file to your browser
